Specification
The call-out is for the cover of Burnham Book Festival 2023 Anthology.
You can use any media to create your entry but your submission must be electronic. It must be entirely your own work.
Your original work can be any size but the digital image will be used on the front cover of a 5×8 inch (12.7 x 20.32 cm) paperback in portrait orientation. You do not need to provide the spine or back cover of the book.
The anthology will contain shortlisted work from writers of all ages, both short stories and poetry. The competition runs at the same time as the cover call-out so it is not possible to read the shortlisted work in advance. There is no theme.
Eligibility
You must live in Somerset or North Somerset. Entries are welcome from people of any age.
Submitting
You may submit up to three entries to the contest.
Your entries must be emailed to competition@burnhambookfest.co.uk before midnight on 28th February 2025. Once submitted, no changes can be made to your entries.
Any digital format is acceptable but we may ask you to supply your entries in an alternative format if we cannot access your artwork. The image should be sufficient quality to allow for printing, ideally 300dpi. If you cannot provide an image of sufficient quality, your entry may be disqualified.
Please include your contact details including your name (as you’d like to be credited), a phone number and postal address.
You retain all rights to your work.
Judging
Submissions will be judged anonymously by a committee of local artists. They will consider how well the image will work as a cover, as well as artistic merit. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prizes
The artist who provides the winning cover will receive £100, be credited in the anthology and receive a copy of the book.
